Didya ever wonder about the origin of toothpaste? How about deodorant? I’m betting for most of you, probably not, but I’m kind of strange that way. I like learning how things came to be. Just call it “Cliffy” Syndrome. I’m full of useless information. But just in case you are interested, according to Wikipedia, “The earliest known reference to toothpaste is in a manuscript from Egypt in the 4th century A.D., which prescribes a mixture of Iris flowers.” Wow! I guess we’ve known for a long time that bad breath is inevitable and must be dealt with.

Oh Great Wiki Oracle, how about deodorant? “In the 9th century, Ziryab invented under-arm deodorants in Al-Andalus.” The 9th century! So it took a little longer for us to get a clue about the danger of stinky pits! It took even longer for some of us, “In 1888, the first commercial deodorant, Mum, was developed and patented by a U.S. inventor in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, whose name has been lost to history.” So again, just in case you ever wondered…
